What Is A Guest Post? Learn About The Benefits
What is Guest Posting/Blogging?
Guest posting or guest blogging refers to writing a blog or other content that gets published on someone else’s website. Writing a guest post for someone else’s website is a great way to introduce yourself to their audience and drive traffic back to you.
What are the benefits of guest posting/blogging?
Guest posting or blogging introduces you to a whole new audience. The benefits are really huge and they increase depending on what site your guest post gets published on.
Writing a guest post on sites that get more traffic and have a higher ranking than your site will do wonders for your search engine rankings and growth.
However, it’s not just about getting backlinks and increasing your Google rankings. You can get tens of thousands of eyes on your article, your name, and even your website.
Growing a brand or popular website takes a lot of effort, time, money, and a little luck so tapping into someone’s audience will help you skip some growing pains.
If you do your guest posting right you can ramp business in a hurry. Guest blogging isn’t for everyone because you have to be able to write well, but it can be a life and career changer.
Everyone wants to write for the biggest and best websites in the world because getting published on them opens a lot of doors. However, there are a ton of websites, including this one, that can provide way more value than most people realize.
Blogs are permanent. Getting a guest blog published on a site that is trending in the right direction can pay dividends for a long time.
Submit content to sites that fit your niche and goals
Make sure to think about your niche and goals before you submit content to any blogging platform.
Most bloggers intend to write guest posts to get simply backlinks to their sites. That is why most bloggers target high authority websites. There are a few issues with targeting the highest authority sites you can find in your niche.
The biggest issue with submitting content to the highest-ranking sites is the competition, communication challenges, and red tape. There are some pretty big sites that get thousands of submissions a day. Therefore, you better know someone or hope you get the right person on the right day to read your submission if you want to get published.
Submitting content on sites that have good authority and get thousands of monthly views can provide a lot of benefits with a lot less stress and effort. I’ve written a lot of guest posts over the years on sites that few people would recognize. Those guest posts are a large part of the reason why this site ranks as well as it does. It’s also why I will continue to write guest posts of my own.
I know the value and the struggle behind writing guest posts better than most. It’s a lot of effort to write quality content. The content submission process can be stressful and time-consuming as well. It gets really frustrating when you wait a long time to get a rejection or no reply at all. However, writing guest posts on sites that rank well and get more traffic than yours is perhaps the best way to improve your online marketing results.
Guest posting with purpose
Getting a guest post published on a site with decent traffic and a high domain score is great but the results are better when you think about the purpose behind your post. Always write posts that are relevant to some page or blog on your site, then link the guest post back to that content. This will increase the authority of that page and your guest post.
All of your guest posts should link back to your website or it’s not really worth writing.
Here is a simple, easy-to-follow process for guest blogging:
- Write high-quality content on your website that you want to rank for.
- Find sites that have a high authority score and publish content relevant to the content on your site.
- Contact the site to pitch them on publishing your guest post. Send them a link to your content and ask them if they would like similar content to publish.
- Write original content that is just as high-quality as the content on your website. The guest post should make people want to read and learn more about the topic. Link the guest post back to your content that gives the reader more value. This adds value to the reader, the site that published your guest post, and your website. This is how win-win marketing and networking works.
High-quality content keeps doors open
Guest posting on the right websites can build your brand, drive relevant traffic, generate direct sales leads, increase your domain ranking, and more! Make sure to write the best content that you can any time you submit a guest post to someone else’s website. Have someone else read through it to check your grammar and provide feedback to you before you submit it for consideration.
If you write a good guest post for someone then they will most likely appreciate it. Helping other people get good content creates a lot of goodwill with them. Writing high-quality content is also the best way to make a great first impression with a new audience. First impressions count.
Ask about trading guest posts
Everyone needs backlinks to their site. If your site has a decent domain authority and similar content don’t hesitate to ask people to write content for your site as well. The growth with guest posting can work both ways.
If you have a similar audience and you don’t have competing products or services then it makes a lot of sense. We trimmed down the marketing services that we offer so we don’t compete with our SPN contributors.
Asking for a guest post back is a way to get exposure to a new audience while also getting a new voice for your readers. It’s also an easier sell when you are offering something in return.
People that have higher ranking sites and subscribers tend to write great guest posts!
Go beyond guest blogging
Backlinks are important and everyone that has a website needs them. That is the biggest reason why we allow people to register a social media account and list a business on SPN. We want to help people grow their brands online.
Now, you don’t have to go through all that to offer backlinks to your friends and colleagues. Create a marketing partner page and write a little content about websites you want to provide backlinks to. Ask your friends to return the favor if they have a site with a low spam score.
Your friends and colleagues may be able to help you more than you or they realize. They may be ranking on keywords you want to rank on and they may have visitors that want your products, services, or help.
