Let’s talk marketing.
Some people are familiar with business marketing strategy, but if you’re not, let me sum it up for you.
There is something called the “P’s of marketing,” a concept that aids people in understanding factors businesses consider when trying to sell a product or service.
One of the P’s, Promotion, is the method used to tell customers about that product or service. Potential buyers must understand the offering on the table before interest is a factor.
Like businesses, job seekers are in the marketing business, too. They are trying to sell their services to their customer, a potential employer.
Their promotion strategy lies in their resume and cover letter.
Some job seekers that put their hat in the ring for these openings served in the military. In some cases, their resumes and cover letters are filled with military jargon.
While their service is appreciated and they are held in high regard, a lot of people will not understand the jargon because they didn’t serve in the military.
As a result, their customer may not understand the offering on the table and therefore won’t express interest in their services.
Translating those position titles and experience using civilian terminology is the way to go to secure interest from hiring teams and potentially be called in for an interview.
I know it can be tough translating one’s military experience using civilian terminology.
Fortunately for those that need help, @Jobready2dey is in the translation business. 😎🙌🏾
