• As with the private sector, there are job seekers who apply for loads of federal jobs indiscriminately, without considering the requirements or their suitability for the open role.

      Not a big deal, right?

Well, it’s a huge deal. Why?

I’ll give you one reason. When federal agencies release a vacancy announcement, they specify the groups of individuals from which they will accept applications.

The job seeker’s assumption is that anybody can apply, hence their shotgun or “spray and pray” approach.

However, if the job seeker does not fit within said group, their application will not be considered. No exceptions.

      Why waste time?

If you are interested in a federal job, read the vacancy announcement in detail.

Make sure you are eligible to apply first.

Then, make sure you have the skills, competencies, and qualifications required for the role.

And finally, tailor your documents to make this clear. This is a must.

If you need help making this happen, my team and I at @Jobready2dey have been helping federal job seekers to be referred to agency hiring managers based on their resume for years.

      We’ve got you covered.
